Privacy Policy

1. Overview

CallsignFinder (“we,” “us,” or “our”) is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy describes what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights with respect to that information. By using CallsignFinder, you agree to the practices described here.

2. Information We Collect

2a. Account Information

When you create an account (via Google, Amazon, or other OAuth providers), we receive and store your email address and display name as provided by the identity provider. We do not receive or store your OAuth passwords.

2b. Watchlist Data

When you save callsigns to your watchlist, we store the list of callsigns associated with your account so we can monitor them and send you alerts.

2c. Usage Analytics

We use Google Analytics 4 (GA4) to collect anonymized usage data including pages visited, search queries performed, filters applied, and general interaction patterns. This data is collected without personally identifying information and is used to improve the Service. You can opt out using your browser's privacy settings or a GA opt-out extension.

2d. Payment Information

If you subscribe to a paid plan, payment is processed by Stripe. We do not store your card number or payment details. We retain subscription status and billing history necessary to manage your account.

2e. Phone Number

If you enable SMS alerts, we collect and store your mobile phone number in E.164 format solely for the purpose of sending alert notifications. Your phone number is not used for marketing and is not shared with third parties except as necessary to deliver the SMS messages (see Section 4).

2f. Technical Data

Our servers and AWS infrastructure may log standard technical information including IP addresses, browser type, and request timestamps for security and operational purposes. These logs are retained for a limited period and are not used for marketing.

3. How We Use Your Information

• To authenticate your account and maintain your session
• To store and retrieve your watchlist across devices
• To send email and SMS alerts about callsigns you are watching (SMS only if you have opted in)
• To analyze usage patterns and improve the Service
• To detect and prevent abuse or unauthorized access

We do not sell your personal information to third parties. We do not use your data for targeted advertising.

4. Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party services which may process your data under their own privacy policies:

• Amazon Web Services (AWS) — Hosting, authentication (Amazon Cognito), and email delivery (Amazon SES). AWS infrastructure is located in the US East (N. Virginia) region.
• Google Analytics 4 — Anonymized usage analytics. See Google's Privacy Policy.
• Stripe — Payment processing for paid subscriptions. Your payment details are handled directly by Stripe and are not stored on our servers. See Stripe's Privacy Policy.
• Twilio — SMS alert delivery. If you enable SMS alerts, your phone number and alert message content are transmitted to Twilio to deliver the SMS. Twilio is a U.S.-based communications platform. See Twilio's Privacy Policy.
• Google / Amazon OAuth — If you sign in with Google or Amazon, those providers authenticate your identity and share your email and name with us. Your use of those providers is governed by their respective privacy policies.

5. Cookies and Sessions

We use HTTP-only cookies to store your authentication session token after you sign in. These cookies are necessary for the Service to function and are not used for tracking or advertising. They expire when your session ends or when you sign out.

Google Analytics sets its own cookies for usage tracking as described in Section 2c.

6. Data Retention

We retain your account data and watchlist for as long as your account is active. If you close your account, we will delete your account data within 30 days. Anonymized analytics data may be retained indefinitely.

7. Your Rights

Depending on your location, you may have rights including:

• The right to access the personal data we hold about you
• The right to request correction of inaccurate data
• The right to request deletion of your account and associated data
• The right to opt out of analytics tracking

You can manage your watchlist and delete your account from the Account page when signed in. For other requests, contact us as described below.

8. Children's Privacy

CallsignFinder is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will update the effective date at the top of this page when changes are made. Continued use of the Service after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
